Firefighters Contain Blaze in Jammu Transport Nagar.webp

Jammu, April 1 Several oil tankers caught fire in Jammu city on Wednesday, prompting a swift response from the fire and emergency services department, which successfully prevented a major disaster, officials said.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

The fire broke out under mysterious circumstances in one tanker near the RTO office at Transport Nagar and rapidly spread to four or five other tankers, according to officials.

Two tankers containing smaller quantities of oil were completely destroyed in the blaze after they caught fire, they added.

The area, which houses a large number of tankers and makeshift settlements, is considered highly vulnerable.

Fire service personnel rushed to the scene with multiple fire tenders and brought the blaze under control after a one-hour operation, officials said.
