Flag Pole Project Celebrates Nagpur's Heritage.webp

Nagpur, March 14 Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unfurled the national flag on Saturday while unveiling a 200-foot-high flag pole in Kasturchand Park, the second capital of the state.

The flag pole will be among the tallest in the region, measuring 200 feet, with the tricolour measuring 60 feet by 40 feet, symbolizing unity in diversity, secularism, and the democratic spirit of the Constitution, according to a release issued by Lokmat Media.

This initiative was undertaken through the joint efforts of Lokmat Media Group and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).

Lokmat Media Group editorial board chairman and former Rajya Sabha member Dr Vijay Darda presided over the function.

Highlighting Nagpur's importance as a cosmopolitan city and its landmark Zero Mile, Fadnavis praised Lokmat Group for this initiative.

The Zero Mile marker in Nagpur marks the geographical center of colonial India. It remains a landmark for measuring distances.

Darda said that the flag pole project was envisioned in 2009 and was pursued with various government departments, including the PWD. The foundation stone was laid by Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari on October 28, 2016.

Terming the occasion a moment of pride, Darda said it will strengthen the spirit of patriotism and inspire the young generation.
