Chennai, February 28 The ruling DMK and its major ally, the Congress, began formal seat-sharing talks for the upcoming Assembly elections on Saturday.
A delegation from the Congress, led by AICC in-charge for Tamil Nadu Girish Chodankar, TNCC chief K Selvaperunthagai, and AICC co-in-charge Niveditha Alva, arrived at Anna Arivalayam, the DMK state headquarters, and commenced talks with the DMK panel led by senior Parliamentarian T R Baalu.
"Let's not speculate. We will get back to you with details," Chodankar told reporters earlier when asked about the number of seats the ruling party would demand from the DMK and whether a Rajya Sabha seat has been promised to the Congress.
The Congress, a key constituent of the DMK-led alliance, has high expectations, aiming for more than the 25 Assembly seats it contested in the 2021 Assembly election, along with a Rajya Sabha seat and a share in power.
