New Delhi, March 25 The Enforcement Directorate said on Wednesday that assets worth Rs 2.79 crore belonging to the former Managing Director of Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL), Bhola Singh, have been attached under the anti-money laundering law in connection with a case of disproportionate assets.

The assets include cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 1.94 crore and a residential flat located in SAIL City in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, worth Rs 85.45 lakh, it said in a statement.

Singh could not be contacted for a comment on the ED's action against him.

The agency's case stems from an FIR registered by the CBI against Singh.

The ED alleged that during the period from January 1, 2022 to January 31, 2024, the former NCL CMD possessed assets worth Rs 1.74 crore, which was about 124 per cent more than his known sources of income.
