March 25, New Delhi – Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen submitted her government's resignation to King Frederik the Tenth on Wednesday, following a major defeat for her three-party coalition in the general election.
Frederiksen's Social Democratic Party achieved its worst result since 1903, winning only 38 seats in the 179-member parliament, down from 50 seats in the previous election.
Despite the setback, the Social Democrats remain the largest party with 21.9% of the vote, keeping Frederiksen in contention for another term.
