New Delhi, March 15 – After a brilliant season in which she achieved a 77/10 win/loss record, India's young squash sensation, Anahat Singh, hopes to continue her momentum in the next two seasons and is eager to showcase her skills when squash makes its debut in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee National Convention 2026 of the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI), Anahat noted that she has represented the country in the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, and that these have been the best events of her life. She hopes that this experience will help her at the Olympics.
"This is the first time that squash will be part of the Olympics. Getting the chance to play in such a major event and representing India at that level is something that surpasses any of the tour events I participate in. As I mentioned, playing for India… I've participated in two events, the Commonwealth and the Asian Games. They have been some of the best events of my life," she said.
Anahat also spoke about her impressive 2025 season record, saying, "Honestly, I don't know how I achieved that (77-10 win/loss record). I've just been focusing on practicing. I don't really think about the record or the scores, such as how many I've won and lost. It's more like a bonus to hear about it. It motivates me to do better."
Anahat said that she has enjoyed the most playing squash with other players, both on and off the court. She said that she has learned the most from senior teammates like Joshna Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal, and Saurav Ghoshal.
"If anyone ever asks me if it's better to play squash or outside squash, I can say that I've learned the most and had the most fun, both on and off the court. Meeting so many people, spending time with my teammates like Joshna, Dipika, and Saurav… they've been in the game for a long time, and I've been really inspired. I'm very lucky to have them by my side. I learn so much from them every day. Of course, getting to play at the Commonwealth Games in India would be amazing. Playing in front of my family and friends would be a dream come true," said Anahat.
She also talked about representing the country and said that she could not have achieved this without the support of corporations, the government, and the entire country. Anahat said that she would like to reciprocate by winning medals in the big games and making the country proud.
"Playing in India is different from playing anywhere else. Getting this opportunity would be amazing. I don't think I would be able to say all of this if I didn't have the support of corporations, the government, the doctors, and the entire country. They have been by my side through everything. I am very grateful for this opportunity. It would be amazing if I could return the favour by winning medals in the big games and making the country proud," she said.
