
Minister Satish Sharma reviewed petroleum stock and supply across Jammu and Kashmir, directing officials to ensure uninterrupted availability of fuel amid Middle East tensions.
Mar 11, Srinagar: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, IT, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, chaired a high-level meeting to review the stock position and supply of petroleum products across Jammu and Kashmir in view of the evolving situation in the Middle East.
The meeting assessed the availability of essential petroleum products including petrol, diesel, kerosene and LPG and evaluated preparedness in case of any supply disruptions.
Officials present included Commissioner Secretary FCS&CA Saurabh Bhagat, Director FCS&CA Jammu/Kashmir Rifat Kohli and Dr Sagar Dattaraya, along with representatives of major oil marketing companies such as Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed stock levels across the Union Territory, the operational status of fuel depots and LPG bottling plants, and the existing supply chain mechanism to ensure smooth distribution of petroleum products.
Satish Sharma emphasised maintaining adequate buffer stocks and strengthening coordination with oil companies to address any logistical challenges. He directed officials to closely monitor the situation and ensure that no district faces shortage of fuel.
The Minister also called for contingency planning in view of the ongoing geopolitical developments in the Middle East and asked officials and oil companies to remain in constant coordination for timely replenishment of stocks.
Reassuring the public, he said the government is fully vigilant and committed to ensuring uninterrupted availability of petroleum products across Jammu and Kashmir.
He also directed enforcement teams to keep strict vigil against hoarding, black marketing and overcharging, asking Legal Metrology officials to intensify inspections at fuel stations and LPG outlets to protect consumer interests.
