Bengaluru, March 26 IOCL assured on Thursday that Karnataka, including Bengaluru, has sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel.
The company blamed panic buying caused by an unusual surge in fuel purchases, which temporarily affected the availability of fuel at a few retail outlets.
"IndianOil assures the public that adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are available across Bengaluru and all districts of Karnataka, and supplies to retail outlets are continuing smoothly," Indian Oil Corporation Limited said in a statement.
All Indian Oil petroleum terminals and supply points are well-stocked with petrol and diesel to meet any demand from our customers in Karnataka, it added.
IOCL clarified that there is no shortage of fuel—both petrol and diesel—and such instances are only the result of a sudden increase in demand.
IndianOil appealed to the public not to indulge in panic buying or unnecessary stocking of fuel, as adequate supplies of petrol and diesel are available and the supply chain is functioning normally.
It also urged people to strictly avoid unsafe practices such as storing petrol in plastic cans, bottles, or other unapproved containers for future use, as this poses serious safety risks.
"IndianOil remains committed to ensuring seamless fuel availability and the safety of customers. We once again assure that a continuous and uninterrupted supply of petrol and diesel is being maintained at our retail outlets across Karnataka," the statement added.
It further said Siddharth Aggarwal, State Level Coordinator for the Oil Industry in Karnataka, has further confirmed that adequate stocks are available at all PSU petroleum terminals (IOC, BPC, and HPC) across the state.
