Ganderbal: Army Reports Terrorist Elimination.webp

Srinagar, April 1 A terrorist was killed in an overnight encounter in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army said on Wednesday.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation on Tuesday night in the Arhama area of the Gandebal district, based on information about suspicious movement in the area.

Based on specific intelligence, a joint search operation was launched by the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the general area of Arhama in Ganderbal, Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

"During the search, vigilant troops observed suspicious activity. When challenged, the terrorists opened fire, and the troops retaliated," the Army said.

The cordon was tactically reorganized amidst intermittent firing, the Army wrote, adding that the troops effectively retaliated with a calibrated response, resulting in the elimination of one terrorist.

Officials said the anti-terror operation is ongoing.
