District Administration hosts Mission YUVA mela in Ganderbal, women entrepreneurs and SHGs showcase products, DC distributes support kits and promotes enterprise and livelihood initiatives

March 08, Ganderbal: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the District Administration Ganderbal organised Mission YUVA Women Entrepreneurship and Self Help Group (SHG) Mela at the Mini Secretariat Lawns in Ganderbal. The event aimed to promote women-led enterprises and strengthen livelihood opportunities across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal visited the mela and inspected various stalls established by women entrepreneurs and Self Help Groups. The stalls showcased locally produced items, handicrafts, food products, and several innovative ventures developed under the Mission YUVA initiative.

During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner distributed kits among adolescent girls, nursing mothers, and several successful women entrepreneurs as a gesture of encouragement and institutional support for women empowerment and sustainable livelihood generation.

Interacting with participants, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of International Women’s Day and emphasised the vital role of women in social and economic development. He appreciated the consistent efforts of women entrepreneurs and SHGs in promoting self-reliance and contributing to local economic growth.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration's commitment to strengthening women-led initiatives through Mission YUVA and other government schemes focused on entrepreneurship development, skill enhancement, and financial inclusion.

Officers and speakers present on the occasion also stressed the need for empowering women through entrepreneurship, capacity building, and access to sustainable income opportunities.

A large number of women entrepreneurs, SHG members, and local residents attended the mela and appreciated the initiative aimed at encouraging women-led enterprises and strengthening grassroots economic development in the district.
