
Berhampur (Odisha), March 13 Two individuals were arrested on Friday for allegedly defrauding a man of Rs 75 lakh in the Ganjam district of Odisha by selling him a plot of land that had already been sold to other people, police said.
The accused real estate brokers have been identified as Somendra Kumar Sahu (63) and Sibasankar Choudhury (46), both from the Ganjam district.
The accused were apprehended following an investigation based on a complaint filed by the victim, Himansu Sekhar Patro, a software engineer from Berhampur, on December 5 last year.
During the demarcation of a plot of land, the victim discovered that the same land had already been sold to other people between 1970 and 1972, said Berhampur Superintendent of Police Saravana Vivek M.
The accused concealed this information to facilitate the fraudulent sale of the land, he added.
Relevant documents, including registered sale deeds, property records, encumbrance certificates, and other records, were seized from the possession of the two accused, police said.
