
New Delhi, April 9 The 18th convocation of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) was held on Thursday at its East Delhi campus in Surajmal Vihar.
Mahesh Verma, Vice-Chancellor of GGSIPU, presented the university report and stated that a total of 26,649 degrees were awarded, including 124 PhDs, 11 MPhils, 2,873 postgraduate degrees, 22,455 undergraduate degrees, and 477 MBBS degrees.
Addressing the convocation, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the university has "provided direction to the country, the world, and society."
She stated that the graduating students would not only advance their careers but also contribute ideas and vision to take India forward.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor and university Chancellor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, along with Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi and Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education, attended the convocation.
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, who was scheduled to attend, could not make it due to personal commitments, officials said.
He congratulated the graduating students through a video message.
