New Delhi, March 12 Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, saying that Gandhi himself does not know where his mind and body are.
He accused the Congress of spreading confusion and wasting public money by raising issues in Parliament and then not participating in debates.
"No one knows where Rahul Gandhi's mind is, nor where his body is; not even he seems to know. People might have to send his photo to a psychologist. Perhaps a psychologist will be able to find it," Singh said, referring to allegations of Gandhi's low attendance in the Lok Sabha.
"These people are enemies of the nation, they are enemies of democracy," the minister said, adding that they waste the money of the poor by not participating in debates in the Lok Sabha.
"If they have something to say, they should run the House and present their points there. On Wednesday, they knew that if a vote were taken, they would be exposed, so they created a commotion and ran away," he said, referring to the opposition's move against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Singh said that the Congress and its allies brought a no-confidence motion against the speaker but backed out at the last moment.
"You saw that they brought a no-confidence motion against our speaker, and in the end, they ran away after creating a drama. They did not have the courage to go through with the no-confidence motion or hold a vote. It seemed that they themselves were divided and did not have unity among them," he told reporters at the Parliament House complex.
Singh alleged that the Congress spends its time spreading confusion instead of participating in parliamentary proceedings.
"Their only work is to spread confusion in the country. That is all the Congress party is left with doing now," he said.
On reports of a shortage of LPG cylinders, Singh said that the government would deal with the situation if such a problem arose.
"Whenever there was a shortage or a difficult situation, we have managed it – even during the Covid-19 pandemic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will manage this as well," he said.
