New Delhi, February 19 Prime Minister Narendra Modi held insightful discussions with global CEOs on scaling up artificial intelligence in a responsible manner and strengthening global collaboration on Thursday.
The CEO Roundtable at the India AI Impact Summit brought together various stakeholders from the field of AI, technology, and innovation.
"The discussions were insightful and forward-looking, focusing on scaling AI responsibly, strengthening global collaboration, and unlocking opportunities for growth," Modi said in a post on X.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister inaugurated the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in the national capital.
"It was heartening to see a shared commitment to harnessing AI for human progress and sustainable development," Modi said, as he also shared pictures of the meeting.
Technocrat Nandan Nilekani appreciated the efforts of the Modi government in advancing AI solutions.
"India will lead the world in demonstrating how the diffusion of AI can improve the lives of ordinary people, farmers, students, and patients, and so on," he said.
The five-day Summit, which began on February 16, brought together heads of state and government, ministers, global technology leaders, prominent researchers, multilateral institutions, and industry stakeholders to deliberate on the role of AI in advancing inclusive growth, strengthening public systems, and enabling sustainable development.
The Summit, themed "Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya — Welfare for All, Happiness for All", reflects India's commitment to harnessing artificial intelligence for human-centric progress and inclusive development.
Conglomerates run by billionaires Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani committed USD 210 billion to creating infrastructure that will help India emerge as an AI development hub.
At the India AI Impact Summit, Ambani announced a Rs 10 lakh crore (about USD 110 billion) investment in artificial intelligence over the next seven years, including the development of gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centers in Jamnagar, leveraging up to 10 GW of green power surplus, and a nationwide edge-compute layer integrated with telecom and digital operator Jio's networks to deliver low-latency AI across India.
Other major investments announced at the Summit included a USD 50 billion commitment by Microsoft by the end of the decade to expand artificial intelligence access across the Global South. "India, unsurprisingly, is one of the largest," its vice chair and president, Brad Smith, said.
The firm had unveiled a USD 17.5 billion investment in AI in India last year.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced a new subsea cable initiative to boost AI connectivity between India, the US, and other locations, alongside partnerships for cloud infrastructure platform support to over 20 million public servants across 800 districts.
Yotta Data Services, backed by a real estate group headed by Niranjan Hiranandani, announced over USD 2 billion investment in Nvidia's latest chips in an artificial intelligence computing hub it is setting up just outside the national capital.
