Golf Course Development Boosts Tourism in Sanasar.webp

The picturesque tourist destination of Sanasar, located approximately 130 kilometers from Jammu, is set to have its first nine-hole golf course, which is expected to be operational by mid-2026.

This initiative is part of the Jammu and Kashmir government's efforts to promote tourism, with a particular focus on developing golf tourism through world-class infrastructure.

Virender Manyal, the Chief Executive Officer of the Patnitop Development Authority, stated that the upcoming golf course, covering 300 kanals and costing ₹16 crore, will be a major attraction for visitors.

"Located amidst dense coniferous forests and mountain ranges, the Sanasar Golf Course will offer a tranquil environment and will significantly impact tourism in the Jammu region," he said.

He added that the project is nearing completion and is likely to be open to the public by June-July this year.

The project aims not only to enhance sports infrastructure but also to attract more domestic and international tourists to the lush green meadows of Sanasar.

Highlighting ongoing developments, Manyal said the Authority is also working on additional projects to further upgrade the destination.

Referring to the existing tulip garden in Sanasar, he noted that it has become a major attraction in recent years, attracting hundreds of tourists during the blooming season in April. Spanning 35 kanals with around 25 varieties, the garden is expected to showcase over two lakh tulip flowers this year.

Jammu and Kashmir already has several prominent golf courses, including the Jammu Tawi Golf Course, Royal Springs Golf Course, Pahalgam Golf Course, and Gulmarg Golf Club, offering scenic and high-quality golfing experiences.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh also expressed his satisfaction with the initiative, stating that such projects will further strengthen tourism potential and economic growth in the region.

The upcoming golf course is expected to significantly boost tourism and position Sanasar as a key destination for leisure and sports tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
