Gondia, Apr 11 A 7-year-old boy was killed in a leopard attack in the Arjuni Morgaon tehsil of the Gondia district, a forest department official said on Saturday.
The incident took place around 8 pm on Friday when Prajwal Govardhan Meshram was playing in front of his house in the Dhabetekdi village, Range Forest Officer Rajendra Bahure said.
"The leopard attacked the boy and dragged him into the bushes. Bystanders were able to free him from the leopard's grasp, but he had sustained serious injuries. He died shortly thereafter. An initial compensation of Rs 1 lakh has been given to his family," the official said.
On Saturday, three cages were set up in the area along with six camera traps and a drone camera to monitor the leopard's movements and capture it.
