Hyderabad, February 24 – Tension gripped the Aramghar crossroads in Hyderabad on Tuesday night when a group of vigilantes intercepted a container allegedly transporting cattle.
The incident occurred at pillar number 311 on the PVNR Expressway, within the jurisdiction of the Rajendranagar Police Station.
The vigilantes forced the container to stop. An argument ensued between the driver and the vigilantes. Soon, a large crowd gathered. They raised slogans, causing tension.
The incident led to a major traffic jam at the busy intersection and on the road from Mehdipatnam to Aramghar. Traffic also came to a standstill on the PVNR Expressway.
The police rushed to the scene, dispersed the crowd, and cleared the traffic.
The vigilantes alleged that the cattle were being illegally transported for slaughter. Based on their complaint, the police registered a case and began an investigation.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police have also booked Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) City President Nithin Nandhkar for allegedly using abusive language and organizing a public gathering without prior permission.
A case has been registered against Nandhkar at the Afzalgunj Police Station in connection with the incident that occurred during the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebrations on February 19.
Nandhkar was speaking on a stage set up on the road, which caused a massive traffic jam.
During his speech, Nandhkar targeted the newly elected Mumbra corporator and AIMIM leader Sahar Yunus Shaikh, who had made the controversial remark that Mumbra would be painted green.
While expressing his respect for the women of this country, Nandhkar criticized her for making the statement. He then allegedly made a derogatory remark.
The AIMIM corporator had made the 'paint Mumbra green' remark during her victory speech. This drew strong reactions from various organizations.
The 22-year-old later apologized for her remark.
