
Jaipur, April 8 Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said on Wednesday that his government is committed to the welfare of farmers and ensuring a continuous supply of water and electricity for irrigation.
Addressing a gathering of farmers in the Nangal Sherpur village of Todabhim, Sharma announced a series of development projects in the Karauli district. He said that farmers are the backbone of the country's economy, and their prosperity is key to national growth.
He said that farmers in 24 districts of the state are currently being provided with electricity during the daytime, and the Ram Jal Setu Link Project will ensure adequate water for irrigation and drinking purposes in 17 districts of eastern Rajasthan.
During the event, the chief minister announced the opening of a government college in Nangal Sherpur tehsil, Balghat, and the construction of key road projects.
He also directed officials to prepare a feasibility report for the construction of an anicut in Lapawali village.
Highlighting government initiatives, Sharma said that the state is working on strengthening irrigation infrastructure through projects such as the Indira Gandhi Canal Project, the Gang Canal, and the Som-Kamla-Amba schemes.
He urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural techniques, use fertilizers according to soil health cards, and maintain soil fertility for future generations.
The chief minister also called upon the youth to become job creators instead of job seekers, adding that the government is providing interest-free loans under its youth policy.
He said that the state government has increased the annual assistance under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme by adding Rs 3,000, taking the total benefit to Rs 9,000 per year.
Sharma said that more than Rs 53,000 crore in interest-free loans has been provided to farmers, over two lakh new agricultural electricity connections have been issued, and more than 65,000 solar pumps have been installed with subsidies exceeding Rs 1,000 crore.
He added that 536 mobile veterinary units are providing doorstep treatment to livestock, while over 17 lakh animals have been insured under the Mukhyamantri Mangla Pashu Bima Yojana.
The chief minister said that the government has undertaken development works worth over Rs 2,200 crore in the Karauli district, including road and bridge projects.
State Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the chief minister, the Ram Jal Setu Link Project will ensure sufficient water supply in 17 districts.
He added that strict action has been taken against those involved in the sale of fake fertilizers and seeds, and compensation will be provided to farmers in case of crop damage.
Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham said that the state government has ensured the delivery of welfare schemes to the last person in the queue and worked towards the empowerment of farmers, youth, women, and the poor.
A large number of farmers and public representatives attended the event, the official statement said.
