March 24, New Delhi — Indian officials held an inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia on Tuesday.
Speaking at the briefing, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Sujata Sharma, stated that India has sufficient fuel reserves and domestic LPG production has increased.
Special Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Rajesh Kumar Sinha, added that two Indian LPG carriers, "Pine Gas" and "Jag Vasant," have safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz and are en route to India.
The two Indian LPG carriers, "Pine Gas" and "Jag Vasant," carrying over 92,600 MT of LPG with 60 Indian seafarers onboard, successfully traversed the Strait of Hormuz.
The vessels have 33 and 27 Indian seafarers onboard. These vessels are destined for India and are likely to arrive at ports between March 26-28.
Official spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, stated that the External Affairs Minister met with all ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in Delhi yesterday, where he discussed the conflict and thanked them for supporting the Indian community in the region.
Aseem R. Mahajan, Additional Secretary (Gulf), Ministry of External Affairs, said that approximately 85 flights are expected to operate from the UAE to India on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Qatar's airspace is partially open, while the airspace of Kuwait and Bahrain remains closed.
