New Delhi, March 30 The government stated on Monday that discussions are underway to bring the unorganized sector under the purview of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation and the Employees' State Insurance Corporation.

Responding to a supplementary question in the Lok Sabha during Question Hour, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, said, "Currently, the labour department is deliberating on the provision for unorganized workers to receive pensions in the future, as the Prime Minister desires that all those who work should receive pensions and they should come under the umbrella of the EPFO and ESIC."

She also stated that significant improvements are being made to the pension scheme, including the launch of free doorstep service.

Workers in the online industry can also be considered for pension in the future, the minister added.
