Government Encourages Digital LPG Transactions.webp

The government is making every effort to ensure the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG across the country. It has advised citizens to use digital methods for booking LPG cylinders and to avoid visiting distributors unless absolutely necessary. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that deliveries authenticated using a Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) have increased from 53 percent in February 2026 to 90 percent yesterday, to prevent diversion at the distributor level.

The ministry said that yesterday, over 90,500 5 kg FTL cylinders were sold. These 5 kg FTL cylinders are available at nearby LPG distributorships and can be purchased by showing any valid ID proof and without requiring proof of address. The ministry stated that since March 2026, approximately 3.6 lakh PNG connections have been converted to gas. Furthermore, more than 3.9 lakh customers have been registered for new connections.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways stated that all Indian seafarers are safe, and no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels have been reported in the past 24 hours. The ministry said that port operations across the country remain normal. The ministry stated that the Director General of Shipping has facilitated the safe repatriation of over 1479 Indian seafarers, including 159 in the last 24 hours, from airports and various regional locations across the Gulf region.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that it continues to closely monitor the evolving situation in the Gulf and West Asia region. It informed that a total of 345 Indian fishermen stranded in Iran returned home yesterday. The ministry stated that the flight situation continues to improve, and since February 28, approximately 7.2 lakh passengers have travelled from the region to India.
