JAMMU, FEBRUARY 26: A media sensitization meeting was held at Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, in Jammu, in preparation for the National Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign, which is scheduled to begin on February 28, 2026, across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Poonam Sethi, Director, Family Welfare MCH & Immunization, J&K, and attended by senior health officials, including the State Immunization Officer and representatives from WHO.

Dr. Sethi informed that the Government of India has launched the HPV vaccination campaign for 14-year-old girls (who have not reached 15 years) to prevent cervical cancer. Officials assured that adequate vaccine supplies, cold chain systems, and trained staff are in place to ensure smooth implementation.

Health authorities urged the public to disregard misinformation and appealed to the media to disseminate accurate information and encourage participation in the vaccination drive.
