The Dimasa language will be introduced as an optional subject in schools in Assam, starting with Class 9 in the 2026-27 academic session and Class 10 in the 2027-28 academic session. The Assam Government has made this decision to give due importance to the Dimasa language's unique identity and cultural significance.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma shared this update on social media. He stated that the government is committed to promoting development while also ensuring equal respect and protection for indigenous languages and cultural identities.
