Surat, March 29 The Gujarat government is ensuring the adequate availability of 5 kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders for workers, and people should not believe rumors amid the West Asia crisis, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said on Sunday.

He was speaking to the media after chairing a high-level review meeting with industrial associations of Surat, Ankleshwar, Vapi, and Bharuch to discuss issues related to workers and gas supply.

"The government is ensuring the adequate availability of 5 kg LPG gas cylinders for workers. People should not believe in rumors or misleading information circulating on social media and should verify information with official sources. Strict legal action will be taken against those who spread misinformation," an official release quoted Sanghavi as saying.

He also said that industrial associations in areas like Pandesara, Vapi, Ankleshwar, and Dahej in south Gujarat are providing meals through industrial kitchens and community services, adding that 118 community kitchens (industrial canteens) are currently operational in Surat and nearby areas.

"Gujarat is a role model, and traders and industries are working together with the government to stabilize the situation. There is currently adequate supply of essential commodities like gas, petrol, and diesel in the state. Supply is being maintained as per the guidelines of the Union government," Sanghavi said.

He also instructed Gujarat Gas Company to expedite providing PNG connections to those currently using LPG.

"Special teams have been formed in each district to monitor black marketing. Strict action will be taken against those involved in black marketing of gas cylinders, petrol, diesel, or essential commodities," the Deputy CM said.

District Supply Officer Darshan Shah presented details regarding the supply of LPG to households, educational institutions, hospitals, and industries, while representatives from various industries highlighted their concerns during the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and Mines) Mamta Verma, MSME Commissioner KC Sampath, Collector Saurabh Pardhi, among others.
