Government Officials Respond to Governor's Cleanliness Feedback in Indore.webp

Indore, February 19 The district administration issued a notice to a private agency on Thursday, cancelling its contract, after staff of Governor Mangubhai Patel expressed dissatisfaction about the cleanliness at a government guest house here.

Notices were also issued to six officials, seeking their response.

The governor spent a night at Residency Kothi on February 16.

VIPs and VVIPs are often accommodated in this historical building.

District Magistrate Shivam Verma said in an official statement, "It has come to light that despite the Governor's Officer on Special Duty (OSD) requesting to change the linen in a room at Residency Kothi, the staff of the concerned service provider, Ratan Emporium, failed to do so."

Further, during an inspection of the kitchen by the governor's OSD and ADC, the cleanliness was found to be unsatisfactory, he said.

However, officials refuted social media reports about cockroaches being found in food, adding that the governor's staff had only expressed dissatisfaction about the cleanliness.

On the instructions of the district magistrate, the PWD issued a termination notice to Ratan Emporium, which had the contract for kitchen and housekeeping, an official said.

The payment due to the agency would be deducted by 20 to 30 percent on account of unsatisfactory service, he added.

The administration also issued show-cause notices to six officials, including a deputy collector, the chief medical and health officer, and civil surgeon, regarding the alleged irregularities at Residency Kothi.

A standard operating procedure (SOP) has been issued to all concerned officials regarding the protocol responsibilities for VIPs and VVIPs, the official added.
