The Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, stated in the Assembly today that an amount of Rs. 42,250 and Rs. 84,000 in relief, under SDRF norms, has been paid to affected farmers for crop loss and livestock loss, respectively, in the Bandipora district, following the floods and natural calamities in 2025.

Srinagar, February 17: The Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, stated in the Assembly today that an amount of Rs. 42,250 and Rs. 84,000 in relief, under SDRF norms, has been paid to affected farmers for crop loss and livestock loss, respectively, in the Bandipora district, following the floods and natural calamities in 2025.

The Deputy Chief Minister was responding on behalf of the Chief Minister to a question raised by Legislator Nizamu-ud-Din Bhat in the Legislative Assembly.

He informed the House that the damages to crops and livestock loss have been assessed by the concerned departments and verified by the committee.

Choudhary said that the loss of agricultural crops was experienced in an area of 40 Kanals of land and the losses were assessed by the respective departments and cases of 40 farmers were processed.

Similarly, the Dy CM said that the loss of livestock was also assessed by the field agencies in respect of 21 beneficiaries. Furthermore, he said that Mobile Veterinary Units were kept operational to address livestock-related emergencies through the toll-free helpline 1962, providing timely veterinary and livestock health care services at the doorsteps of farmers.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Department of Animal/Sheep Husbandry has also conducted free vaccination campaigns with 100% coverage against Foot and Mouth Disease, Lumpy Skin Disease, Haemorrhagic Septicaemia, and Black Quarter, besides free deworming medicines were distributed among livestock owners to prevent post-calamity disease outbreaks.
