The government announced today that India's coal sector has achieved a major milestone, with commercial and other mines exceeding the 200 million tonnes (MT) production mark. The Ministry of Coal stated that this achievement reflects the combined efforts and unwavering commitment of various public and private sector companies. It also noted that the country's coal dispatch has maintained a steady upward trend, with over seven per cent year-on-year growth, increasing from approximately 182 MT to over 197 MT. This sustained growth reflects the sector's ability to meet the country's energy needs while ensuring a reliable coal supply to key consumer sectors. The Ministry emphasized that this growth reflects the government's commitment to further developing captive and commercial coal mining as a key driver of the nation's energy ecosystem.
