
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has established a committee to review the provision of 2.5 days' pay and allowances for non-gazetted employees of the Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department who are assigned roster duties on Sundays and government holidays. Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that, according to the Government Order, the committee has been tasked with examining the functional necessity of employing ministerial staff to perform duties during Sundays and holidays in government hospitals and health institutions. The committee will be chaired by the Principal of the Government Medical College, Jammu, while the Director of Health Services, Jammu, the Director of Health Services, Kashmir, and the Chief Accounts Officer, Government Medical College, Rajouri, will serve as members. According to the terms of reference, the panel will assess the nature of duties performed by ministerial staff during roster duties on off days, review existing rules and regulatory frameworks regarding such engagements, and recommend categories of ministerial staff who may be required to perform compulsory duties on Sundays and government holidays in order to receive 2.5 days' pay and allowances. The committee will submit its recommendations after examining the operational requirements of hospitals and health institutions under the Health and Medical Education Department.
