New Delhi, March 11 Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Wednesday that high priority has been given to building the capacity of civil services in artificial intelligence (AI) and to empower the public workforce with skills and knowledge in this field.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Singh said the iGOT (integrated government online training) Karmayogi platform – which includes over 1.5 crore government employees from central government ministries, departments, and organizations, as well as from 30 state and Union Territory governments – has 105 courses on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies designed to equip officials with essential digital knowledge and skills.
These courses focus on the use of AI in various domains such as education and skill development, office productivity, agriculture, public health, AI security and cybersecurity, said Singh, the Minister of State for Personnel.
Recognizing the need to upskill government employees in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, high priority has been given to building the capacity of civil services in AI and to empower the public workforce with skills and knowledge in this field, he added.
The minister was responding to a query about whether the government has formulated any comprehensive policy or programme for upskilling and reskilling central government employees in the use of artificial intelligence and digital tools for public administration and governance.
