Guwahati, March 16 Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated authors Devabrat Das and Sahaisuli Brahma on receiving the Sahitya Akademi Award for 2025.

Das was awarded for his Assamese novel ‘Kori Khelar Shadhu’, and Brahma for the Bodo novel ‘Dwngnwi Lama Mwnse Gathon’.

In a statement, the governor said that their achievements have brought immense pride to the state and highlighted Assam's rich literary tradition.

He expressed hope that both writers would continue to enrich Indian literature through their work, and inspire the younger generation to pursue creative and intellectual endeavours.

The chief minister, in a post on X, said, ''I am delighted that Assam's literary brilliance has been recognised at the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2025.''

''Congratulations to Shri Devabrat Das for Kori Khelar Sadhu (Assamese) and Smt Sahaisuli Brahma for Dwngnwi Lama Mwnse Gathon (Bodo), and I wish them continued success,'' he added.

Das, a prominent voice in Assamese literature, has authored over 25 books, covering genres such as fiction, non-fiction, screenplays, reviews, and critical essays.

The National Academy of Letters announced the names of 24 authors for the Sahitya Akademi Award earlier in the day.
