
Chennai, March 20 Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister M K Stalin, and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami extended their greetings to Muslim brethren on the eve of Ramadan.
Governor Arlekar said, "My warmest greetings and best wishes to my Muslim brothers and sisters in Tamil Nadu and across the nation on this auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr."
In an official statement on Friday, he said, "May this joyous day bring good health, happiness, and prosperity to all, and foster peace and brotherhood in society, strengthening unity in nation-building."
Chief Minister Stalin, in his message, said, "To our Islamic brothers who follow the path laid out by Prophet Muhammed, the DMK government always stands as a fortress. At all levels, such as education, employment, economy, and political representation, we have upheld social justice for our minority brothers."
"Whenever the Union BJP government brings laws against the Islamic people, we have been strongly opposing them in the people's forum and in Parliament," Stalin said in a statement.
He recalled the various schemes announced by his government, including the establishment of a Hajj House in Chennai, the renovation of ancient mosques and dargahs, and the provision of educational scholarships for Islamic students. "I extend my greetings to the Islamic people celebrating the Ramadan festival," he added.
AIADMK chief Palaniswami said, "To all Islamic people celebrating the Ramadan festival after observing 30 days of fasting, I express my greetings."
In a party statement, he said, "Let us resolve to continuously follow the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed, such as charity, compassion, love, and avoiding anger, so that peace and harmony flourish in the world."
"I extend the Ramadan festival greetings on the path of Amma (as J Jayalalithaa is fondly called, meaning mother) and the legacy of Revolutionary leader MGR (AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran) to all Islamic people," he added.
