New Delhi, March 10 The government on Tuesday sought approval from the Lok Sabha for an additional expenditure of over Rs 2.81 lakh crore in the current fiscal year.

The second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants was presented in the Lok Sabha by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

"Approval from Parliament is being sought to authorize an additional expenditure of Rs 2,81,289.26 crore. Of this, proposals involving a net cash outflow amount to Rs 2,01,142.96 crore, while gross additional expenditure, matched by savings from Ministries/Departments or by increased receipts/recoveries, amounts to Rs 80,145.71 crore," stated the Supplementary Demands for Grants.
