
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, led the Indian delegation at the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which is currently taking place in Cameroon. The conference, which began yesterday, will continue until the 29th of this month.
During the Ministerial Conversation on Foundational Issues of the WTO, Mr. Goyal emphasized the importance of undertaking necessary reforms through a transparent, inclusive, and member-driven process. He highlighted that development must remain at the core of the organization while upholding key principles such as non-discrimination, consensus-based decision-making, and equity.
On the sidelines of the conference, Mr. Goyal met with the Prime Minister of Cameroon, Joseph Dion Ngute. The discussions focused on bilateral and multilateral issues, with both sides exploring ways to further strengthen cooperation between India and Cameroon.
