RAJOURI, April 11, 2026: In a historic achievement, young boxer Mohd Yasser has become the first international boxer from Jammu and Kashmir. Supported under the Khelo India Scheme, he will represent India at the Under-15 Asian Boxing Championship in Uzbekistan, starting May 1.
Coming from a financially disadvantaged background and raised by a single parent after his father’s early death, Yasser’s journey is a story of determination and resilience. Training under Coach Mohd Ishtyaq at the Khelo India Centre in Rajouri, his success highlights the impact of grassroots sports development in the region.
