Jaipur, April 4 Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said on Saturday that the state government aims to plant 10 crore saplings this monsoon season under the 'Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan'.
Chairing a review meeting of the forest department, Sharma directed the officials to complete all preparations for the plantation drive before the onset of monsoon and ensure its continuous monitoring.
"Our goal is to make Rajasthan greener, and all departments must work in coordination to achieve the plantation target," Sharma said.
The drive will commence on World Environment Day on June 5, and gain momentum during July, August, and September, officials said.
Sharma instructed the officials to prepare the sites in advance, including fencing and pit digging, and to coordinate with the revenue department, PWD, and the Indian Railways for planting saplings along roads, grazing land, and railway properties.
The chief minister also emphasized promoting the 'Namo Van' and 'Namo Nursery' projects, providing farmers with free fruit-bearing saplings, prioritizing indigenous species, and adopting techniques such as drone seeding in the hilly and forest areas.
The state has set an ambitious target of planting 50 crore saplings between 2024 and 2028, the officials said.
