Ahmedabad, April 10 The Gujarat government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Taiwan-based Allegiance International Co Ltd on Friday to develop an Indo-Taiwan Industrial Park in the Sanand-Dholera region, aimed at boosting investments in semiconductors and related sectors.

The proposed industrial park is expected to attract over Rs 1,000 crore in foreign direct investment (FDI) from Taiwanese industries, particularly in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sectors, and generate around 12,000 direct jobs over the next five years, the state government said in a release.

The MoU was signed between the state's Department of Science and Technology and Allegiance International in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar, it said.

The agreement aims to facilitate business collaboration between enterprises from India and Taiwan looking to establish operations in the country, particularly in Gujarat.

The state is emerging as a preferred destination for semiconductor manufacturing, with projects worth over Rs 1.24 lakh crore currently under development in the state, the release said.

The initiative is aligned with the India Semiconductor Mission and aims to strengthen the state's production ecosystem across sectors such as semiconductors, electronics, electric vehicles, robotics and supply chains.

The MoU was signed by Allegiance Group Chairman and Vice President of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in India Simon Lee and Secretary, Science and Technology Department, P Bharathi in the presence of Gujarat's Science and Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia.

The collaboration is expected to further strengthen ties between Gujarat and Taiwan, supporting companies in high-technology sectors and related supply chains, the release added.
