
Rajkot/Gandhinagar, April 10 – President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to attend two graduation ceremonies in Gujarat on April 13 and 14, officials said on Friday.
At the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot on April 13, the institute will hold its first graduation ceremony, during which the inaugural batch of MBBS students admitted in 2020 will receive their degrees.
A total of 49 students will receive MBBS degrees, while one student will be awarded a Postdoctoral Certificate in Virology.
Murmu, who will be the chief guest, is scheduled to deliver the graduation address and distribute medals and degree certificates.
Ten medals will be awarded to MBBS students, including four gold, three silver, and three bronze medals for academic performance.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by approximately 700 people, including graduates, their families, faculty members, and invited guests.
Those likely to be present include Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel, and State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya.
AIIMS Rajkot was established in 2019 as an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The following day, on April 14, the President will attend the fifth graduation ceremony of the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gandhinagar.
The event is scheduled to take place at approximately 5 p.m. at the university's campus in Lavad-Dehgam.
The Rashtriya Raksha University functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs and is designated as an institution of national importance, focusing on national security and police studies.
Officials said the President will attend the ceremony as the chief guest. Preparations for her visit are currently underway.
The President last visited Gujarat in October last year on a three-day tour from 9 to 11, during which she attended official engagements, including a graduation ceremony at Gujarat Vidyapith in Ahmedabad.
