
Bhavnagar, April 2 Approximately 200 people, including schoolchildren, fell ill due to suspected food poisoning in two separate incidents in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, officials said on Thursday.
Several of them were rushed to nearby government hospitals and discharged after treatment.
Government medical officer Dr. Nilesh Santariya said that on Wednesday, 52 children were brought to the general hospital after complaining of vomiting following a breakfast of bhaji-pav at school.
Some of them were kept under observation, and all were later discharged.
In the second incident, also reported on Wednesday, over 100 people complained of symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea after eating 'prasad' distributed during a program at a temple in Khambha village of Sihore tehsil.
Many of them were shifted to a hospital in Sihore for treatment and subsequently discharged, officials said.
