
Amreli (Gujarat), February 16 A 45-year-old woman was killed by a lioness in a village in the Amreli district of Gujarat on Monday, an official said.
Manjulaben Solanki was attacked while she was washing clothes in a river in the Govindpur village, which falls under the Dalkhaniya range of the Gir East forest division, in the afternoon, according to range forest officer Harshil Vanik.
Villagers managed to rescue Solanki and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced her "dead on arrival," he said.
Following the incident, forest department personnel were able to trap the big cat and transferred her to a rescue center, Vanik added.
