Trooper injured inside Baksa jail premises
A 24 IR Battalion trooper, identified as Gunajit Baishya, was seriously injured after being shot with his own service pistol on Monday night inside the district jail premises in Nikashi, Baksa district, Assam.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter, although further details are yet to be confirmed. Following the incident, the injured trooper was initially admitted to Dr Ravi Bodo Civil Hospital in Mushalpur.
Due to the severity of his injuries, particularly a gunshot wound to the chest, he was later referred to Guwahati for advanced medical treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.
