New Delhi, March 11 The Delhi government plans to introduce two specialized medical training programs at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital to improve healthcare education and services in the city, an official statement said.
"Expanding specialized training programs in our government hospitals will help build a stronger healthcare workforce while improving access to quality medical services for the people of Delhi," Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said.
The proposed programs include a gynecological oncology fellowship at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) primary course in family medicine at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, it said.
The gynecological oncology fellowship at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital is proposed to start under the aegis of the Association of Gynecologic Oncologists of India, with one seat.
The fellowship will focus on developing specialized expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological cancers, an area of increasing importance in tertiary healthcare institutions, the statement said.
Additionally, the government has proposed to start a DNB primary course in family medicine with four post-MBBS seats at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital after obtaining accreditation from the National Board of Examinations.
The program aims to strengthen the availability of trained family medicine specialists who play a crucial role in primary healthcare delivery, it added.
Singh said the government is committed to strengthening both medical education and patient care infrastructure in the capital.
The proposals have been examined by an expert committee chaired by the director principal of Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College and are being placed for approval according to established procedures, the statement added.
