
Gurugram, February 21 A speeding Mercedes car overturned on Old Railway Road after hitting a barrier, police said on Saturday.
A Delhi resident who was driving the car said he lost control while trying to avoid hitting someone, they said.
The car was badly damaged, but the driver only sustained minor injuries.
According to police, the accident occurred around 6 am on Friday in front of Prem Mandir on Old Railway Road.
Rajesh Godara, a resident of Dwarka in southwest Delhi, was driving the car, returning home from Bharthal, Delhi.
Godara said he was returning after visiting his aunt in a village near Gurugram.
Near Prem Mandir, a man suddenly stepped in front of the car to cross the road, and the driver swerved hard to avoid hitting him, hitting the barrier in the process, Godara said.
After the crash, locals gathered at the scene, and traffic was briefly disrupted. According to police, preliminary investigations suggest that high speed was the cause of the accident.
