Gurugram, March 21 A 30-year-old man died and three others were injured after the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed in Dundahera village here, police said on Saturday.

An FIR has been registered on charges of negligence, and the house owner and caretaker have been arrested, they said.

Police said Satish Mali, a native of Aurangabad in Bihar, was living on rent on the second floor of the house along with his friend Ravi Jha.

According to a complaint filed by his brother Shravan Mali, the house was in a dilapidated condition and water leaked from the roof during the rains. The tenants had informed the landlord and caretaker, but no action was taken.

The incident took place around 8:30 pm on Friday when the roof of the room collapsed, burying Satish and Ravi under the debris, police said.

The balcony of the house also fell onto the street, injuring a couple passing by on a motorcycle, they said.

Locals alerted the police, and a rescue operation was launched. Satish was declared dead, while Ravi and the injured couple, Rahul and Kirti, were taken to a hospital.

Ravi was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi due to his critical condition, while the couple is stated to be stable, a senior police officer said.

Following the complaint, an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Udyog Vihar police station, and the house owner Om Prakash and caretaker Rakesh were arrested on Saturday.

Police said further investigation is underway.
