Gurugram, March 28 Five labourers sustained burn injuries after a small 5 kg gas cylinder allegedly exploded while cooking in Kherki Majra village, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Friday, and the injured were taken to the Civil Hospital before being referred to AIIMS, Delhi, for further treatment. Doctors said the victims, aged between 30 and 35, suffered around 40 per cent burn injuries, they added.

According to the police, six labourers from Bihar were renting a room in the house of a local named Bittu in Kherki Majra village. Around 9 pm, one of them went out to buy flour, while the others were cooking their meal using a small gas cylinder.

During this time, a gas leak allegedly caused the cylinder to catch fire and explode, engulfing five labourers in flames.

The police team from the Dhankot police chowki reached the scene, and the families of the injured have been informed.
