Accused arrested after brutal assault leads to child's death; police launch murder probe
Gurugram, May 11 – In a deeply disturbing incident from Gurugram, a six-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries after being brutally assaulted by his intoxicated father for allegedly refusing to bring him water. The tragic episode unfolded on May 6, when police were informed by staff at the civil hospital about a critically injured child named Satyam. Due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to PGIMS Rohtak, where he later died during treatment.On May 7, the child's mother lodged a formal complaint at Sector 10 police station, prompting the registration of an FIR and the launch of an investigation.
Father's drunken rage turns deadly
According to Gurugram Police, Singh confessed during interrogation that he was under the influence of alcohol after returning home unemployed that day. When he asked his son for water and the boy refused, he became enraged."The accused slapped the child, and when Satyam threatened to complain to his mother, Singh lost control and repeatedly banged his son's head against a wall. The brutal assault left the child grievously injured," a police spokesperson said.
Accused in judicial custody
Singh was arrested from Gurugram’s Shakti Nagar area on Saturday and has since been remanded to judicial custody. Authorities are now pursuing legal action under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and further investigation is underway.The incident has sparked widespread outrage and grief, highlighting once again the pressing need for awareness and action against domestic violence and child abuse.
