The Asomi Saras Mela 2025-26 was inaugurated in Guwahati.

The Asomi Saras Mela 2025-2026, organized by the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission, was formally inaugurated today at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

The fair was officially opened by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Addressing the attendees, the Union Minister extended his best wishes to all participating entrepreneurs and stated that the fair's objective is to provide market access for rural self-help groups and local artisans to sell their products.

The 13-day fair features over 250 stalls representing states such as Maharashtra, Tripura, and Uttar Pradesh, among others. Key highlights of the event include traditional Assamese products such as Muga silk mekhela chadors, bamboo and cane crafts, handmade masks, and indigenous games.

Several dignitaries were present at the inauguration, including Assam Panchayat Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Guwahati Lok Sabha MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi, Dispur MLA Atul Bora, MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya, and MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, along with senior officials from the department.
