
Assam launches HPV vaccination campaign in Guwahati
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National HPV Vaccination Campaign in Ajmer, Rajasthan. Under the campaign, 14-year-old girls across the country will be vaccinated against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The initiative aims to reduce the risk of cervical cancer. Millions of girls from all states and Union Territories will be covered under the program.
The HPV vaccine will be provided free of cost at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, community health centers, sub-divisional and district hospitals, as well as government medical college hospitals across India.
As part of the nationwide HPV vaccination drive, the state-level launch was held in Guwahati today. The program took place at the Mother and Child Care Hospital under Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.
Health Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary and Member of Parliament Bijuli Kalita Medhi were present at the event. The campaign aims to ensure wider protection for adolescent girls and strengthen preventive healthcare services in Assam.
