Prayagraj, March 10 The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on a petition seeking an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) survey of the ablution area of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, to April 15.
Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal was hearing the civil revision petition filed by Rakhi Singh, one of the plaintiffs before a Varanasi court.
The petition challenges the October 21, 2023 order of the Varanasi district judge, which rejected a plea seeking directions to the ASI to conduct a survey of the wazukhana or ablution area, excluding the structure claimed by the Hindu side as a 'Shivlinga' and by the Muslim side as a fountain.
The court adjourned the hearing after the legal representatives of the parties informed that the matter is under consideration by the Supreme Court.
