Kokrajhar, April 9 Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary and his wife Sewli, who is making her electoral debut from the Kokrajhar constituency, expressed confidence on Thursday that the NDA will retain power in Assam.
Speaking to reporters after casting their votes in the assembly elections, leaders of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) said that the atmosphere was positive for the ruling alliance in the state.
The BPF is part of the NDA, with the BJP and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) being the other constituents.
"We are 100 per cent sure that the NDA will retain power and Himanta Biswa Sarma will once again be the chief minister. People are voting for the development achieved by this government," said Mohilary.
"The BPF, which had won the BTC elections last October, has accelerated the pace of development in the area, and this will be reflected in the results," he claimed.
Sewli asserted that she would be successful in her debut attempt.
"I am fully confident of winning the seat. We were able to gauge the people's support when we approached them during the campaign," she said.
Polling for the 126-member assembly began at 7 am and will continue until 5 pm. The votes will be counted on May 4.
