
New Delhi, February 23 Days after an Indian Air Force's Tejas jet sustained some damage at a frontline airbase, its manufacturer, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), described the incident as "minor" on Monday.
However, the state-owned aerospace major did not provide specific details of the incident involving the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA).
"There has been no reported crash of the LCA Tejas. The incident in question was a minor technical issue on the ground," a spokesperson for HAL said.
"The LCA Tejas maintains one of the world's best safety records among contemporary fighter aircraft. As part of standard operating procedure, the issue is being thoroughly analyzed, and HAL is working closely with the Indian Air Force to resolve it quickly," the official said in a statement.
It is learnt that the aircraft sustained damage after it overshot the runway. The incident occurred on February 7.
There has been no official statement from the IAF on the matter yet.
The Tejas is a single-engine, multi-role fighter aircraft capable of operating in high-threat air environments.
It has been designed to undertake air defense, maritime reconnaissance, and strike roles.
